Cape Town to host annual Glamour Aid Charity Dinner and Art Auction in August
On Saturday, 24 August 2013, The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay, will host the annual Glamour Aid Charity Dinner and Art Auction.
The Glamour Aid campaign started in 2006 as a platform for celebrities and public personalities to give back to their community via various charitable initiatives. This year's Glamour Aid Project consists of 12 prominent celebrities, including Victor Matfield, Thuli Sithole, Roland Schoeman, Michelle Botes, Arno Carstens, Francois Pienaar, and Loyiso Bala.
Creating opportunities for change
In addition, 12 acclaimed South African artists painted their interpretation of each of these celebrities, which will be auctioned on the evening of the Charity Dinner and Art Auction event in a bid to raise further money for the charitable causes.
Glamour Aid strives to embark on different challenges to make a difference and assist in promoting a better South Africa for all. All proceeds of the Charity Dinner and Art Auction will be donated to the Make A Difference Charity (MAD) and the Chaeli Campaign.
As Glamour Aid's founder Brigitte Willers explains, "We believe that every little bit will create change, and we are committed to creating the opportunities for those changes to happen. Our passion is talent development in underprivileged communities and protecting the innocence of our future generation."
High-profile participants
Masters of ceremonies for the evening are Cindy Nell-Roberts, former Miss South Africa 2002, and Liezel van der Westhuizen, TV presenter and model.
Guests will be entertained by South African electric cellist, Carol Thorns as she performs in the exciting Cellosphere and South Africa's well-known Arno Carstens who will entertain guests throughout the evening.
Some of the artists participating in the project include Richard Scott, Vanessa Berlein, Wilma Cruise, Gavin Rain and Nomusa Makhubu. The celebrities participating this year will be photographed to be part of an elegant coffee-table book to be released later this year.
