Views Boutique Hotel & Spa supports community through Hope Foundation
The Views Boutique Hotel & Spa in the Wilderness is not all about beauty and indulgence - the hotel is also involved in helping out their community through supporting The Hope Foundation.
The Hope Foundation is a tourism based charity organisation founded by Jan Bester which focuses on social upliftment programmes as well as various conservation initiatives within the Garden Route. These include feeding schemes, rural school projects, youth programmes through creative arts and sustainable economic development of rural communities through tourism.
Donating clothes and blankets
Views Boutique Hotel & Spa got involved with the Hope Foundation by organising "winter warmth" initiatives. In the past staff members held a cake sale to raise money to buy blankets and last year the hotel collaborated with some of its suppliers to donate stationery and food to 160 underprivileged children at Grootkraal Primary School in Oudtshoorn. The staff also donated warm clothing and blankets.
The Views team visited the school to distribute all the items and serve the children warm vegetable soup and bread. At their arrival at the school, they were welcomed by Bester and the school headmaster, Llewellyn Mthembo. After setting up and with the soup on the stove, half the team stayed in the kitchen to butter the bread and the other half were taken on a tour of the school. Watching the children enjoy their lunch warmed the hearts of the Views team and some of the staff even took part in a game of rugby. At the end of the day the team was treated to a song and dance by the children.
