FoodBank SA honoured in London

The South Africa-based food security charity FoodBank SA was recently awarded the SA Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year Award at the South African High Commission in London. It is hoped that this will raise the profile of the NGO and stimulate further sponsors and donors.

FoodBank SA's London representative, Janet Broadhurst, said that the award comes at a crucial time for FoodBank SA at the end of a very busy and exciting first year of representation in the UK after an office was established in London. "It will help FoodBank increase its profile in the UK and underpin the amazing work that the organisation is doing in South Africa. For a small NGO, this award will help us to raise our profile as we embark on the next phase of our development."

The South African High Commissioner in London, Zola Skweyiya, is one of the champions and most ardent supporters of FoodBank SA. "We are delighted to be working with other NGOs in South Africa, enabling us all to continue the work being achieved in all other areas of development, and are optimistic that this acknowledgement will help build partnerships for FoodBank with further sponsors and donors in 2013," she said.
