Naval ships arrive in Buffalo City
Two ships, the SAS Umkomaas and the SAS Umzimkulu have arrived in Buffalo City, exercising their privileges of freedom of entry to the port. A third vessel, SAS Amatola is due to arrive over the weekend.
Buffalo City metropolitan mayor Zukiswa Ncitha welcome the navy to the city for the next week and has urged residents to take advantage of the event by viewing the ships and experiencing what life on board a naval vessel is really like.
A number of events have been planned for the city, including a colourful parade, a navy band concert, open public visits to the ships and a number of demonstrations.
The ships are open to the public daily where they will be able to walk around or take part in a career expo aimed at getting more people to join the navy.
