Sekunjalo wins R800-million marine contract

Business Day reports that Sekunjalo Investments has won a five-year, R800-million contract to maintain eight research and patrol vessels belonging to the government.

According to Business Day the contract, awarded by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is expected to accelerate broad-based participation in Cape Town's thriving marine industry. Sekunjalo says the contract will improve profitability and cash-flow for its subsidiary Sekunjalo Industrial.

Company chief executive Khalid Abdulla says it is the only black-owned company in Africa with the technical and engineering expertise to manage a contract of this size and complexity.
