Two suspended South African Revenue Services (Sars) executives implicated in the Nugent Commission have had their employment terminated with immediate effect, as part of Commissioner Edward Kieswetter's purge to clean up the organisation.

Sars announced that lawyers of its head of IT Mmamathe Makhekhe-Mokhuane and that of group executive of employee relations Luther Lebelo had come to an arrangement to end their employment with the proviso that no further action would be taken against the pair.

The two were part of the five executives placed on precautionary suspension in recent months pending the conclusion of their disciplinary process.

The other three executives were Hlengani Mathebula, chief officer for governance, international relations, strategy and communications, Teboho Mokoena, chief officer for human capital & development (both of whom have since left Sars), and Refiloe Mokoena, chief officer for legal counsel.
