The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has announced that three of Africa's foremost chartered global management accountants (CGMAs), will be among the speakers at the Africa Congress of Accountants (ACOA 2015), to be held from 12-14 May at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Pailles, Mauritius.

This is the largest gathering of accountants in the region. The CGMA designation - which is a global designation formed through a joint venture of CIMA and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) - is a gold sponsor of the event.

"Since 2012 CIMA has been changing the playing field with regards to management accounting firstly with the launch of the CGMA designation and now with our participation at ACOA. This will position the CGMA designation as a global thought leader within the accountancy profession and in business as a whole," says Samantha Louis, CIMA regional director: Africa.

The speakers representing CIMA and CGMA are:

    • Anthony Boateng, who is the finance and administration director at the Africa Centre of Economic Transformation, will speak on developing sustainable national institutions and human capacity to deliver results in public and private sectors.
    • Victor Nyasulu, finance director at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation and also chairman of the Africa Regional Board of CIMA, will address delegates on public finance management and foreign direct investment in Africa.
    • Devika Mohotti, deputy chairman of the Professional Accountancy Organisation Development Committee, has been invited to chair the session on accountants as innovation drivers.
