Applications for Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellowship programme open
Through the fellowship programme, the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation invests in the education and development of individuals with entrepreneurial potential and believes that these curious, driven and responsibly-minded young people are capable of significantly, positively and permanently impacting the economic lives of the communities, cities and our country.
The Foundation supports entrepreneurs who will improve the socio-economic landscape of southern Africa. Further, it provides youth who demonstrate the highest potential access to education and assists them with cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset.
Fellowship recipients, known as Candidate Allan Gray Fellows, receive funding for university in addition to access to support and development to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. Personal leadership and academic excellence also forms a core part of the Fellowship Programme.
1st year university criteria
- Minimum average of 65% for your 2018 mid-year (June) exam results
- Studying towards a degree in Commerce, Science (excluding Medicine), Humanities (majoring in Politics, Philosophy or Economics), Engineering or Law
- Studying at one of the following universities: WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, Rhodes, UWC, Stellenbosch, UFS or UP
- Applicants must be under the age of 22 in the year of their application
- South African Citizenship
- The application closing date is 17 August 2018
2nd year university criteria
- Minimum average of 65% for your 2017 year-end exam and 65% in 2018 mid-year exam
- Studying towards a degree in Commerce, Science (excluding Medicine), Humanities (majoring in Politics, Philosophy or Economics), Engineering or Law
- Studying at one of the following universities: WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, Rhodes, UWC, Stellenbosch, UFS or UP
- Applicants must be under the age of 23 in the year of their application
- South African Citizenship
- The application closing date is 17 August 2018
