The result were withheld after Umalusi did not approve the release of Grade 12 results in 38 centres in KwaZulu-Natal and 19 centres in the Eastern Cape, following evidence of group copying. The Department of Basic Education has been investigating the case.
"In KwaZulu-Natal, results of all the 20 centres remain blocked. However, there are some subjects that will be released in certain centres," the Department of Basic Education spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said.
In the Eastern Cape, the results of all the 14 centres remain blocked. However, there are two centres where the results in some subjects will be unblocked.
"In one school, the results of two candidates out of 80 will be released because the two candidates were not implicated," Mhlanga said.
In another school the results of eight candidates would be released and the results of five other candidates would be blocked because they were implicated.
"We are working on system improvements to avert similar occurrences in the future. We will provide details on this in due course," he said.
