BoxOffice sells to 26% of DStv users

According to Channel24 reports, the BoxOffice service launched by DStv in July has secured about 209 000 new subscribers in South Africa in the first quarter it was launched.

The BoxOffice service allows subscribers to download movies for R25 each and view them at their leisure. But, according to Channel24, there is competition coming from DStv as SouthTel plans to roll out its own video-on-demand service early next year and TopTV is introducing a video-on-demand service once its own PVR is available next year.
