SuperSport ShowBar Hosts the Best Local and International Comedians this April

Joe Parker's Comedy Express at Carnival City's SuperSport ShowBar will again feature the best in international stand-up comedy alongside the regular talented local performers in April. With three international heavy-hitters from Canada, England and America headlining at the ShowBar this month, the host of top-quality local ‘n lekker South African comics will have to be on their toes! The likes of Darren Maule, Trevor Sturgess, David Kibuuka, Etienne Shardlow, Joe Parker and Mel Miller will take to the stage throughout the month to help keep election campaign-weary South Africans laughing.

Simon B. Cotter (3 & 4 April) has used his wit, candour and charm to entertain audiences across the globe. His ability to relate intuitively with any audience has made him a favourite at clubs, universities, corporate functions and festivals.

Over the years, Simon has performed at the Just For Laughs Festival, appearing on CBC-TV Galas four times returning for his fifth appearance in 2004. Simon has also appeared on CBC's Comics! as well as CTV/The Comedy Network's Comedy Now!. Internationally Simon has enjoyed success on A&E's Evening at the Improv, The Comedy Store TV Show (UK), LIVE at Jongleurs (UK) and the BBC's The Stand Up Show.

Simon is a universal comedian who crosses all boundaries. He is regarded as the "King of the College Circuit", setting campus attendance records across the continent, and has headlined live in comedy clubs in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, and other such locals as Jamaica, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, and China.

Simon's slick delivery, thoughtful observations, and hysterical anecdotes on relationships, family and friendship make him a sure fire hit with any audience.

Sally-Anne Hayward (10 & 11 and 17 & 18 April) is the only woman to take to the Comedy Express stage this month. Boys beware, though - Sally combines the things you shouldn't like about your best friend's mom with the sensibilities of Jack the Ripper. She grew up to reject dizzy incompetence and feminine wiles for a disarming mix of ingratiating charm and unsettling pugnacity.

An accomplished radio presenter with stage and TV acting credentials including “Absolutely Fabulous”, Sally-Anne's confident persona and quick wit have rapidly made her a much sought-after compere. She's been resident MC at Jesters Comedy Club in Bristol since 2005 and is a regular, keenly anticipated turn on the UK comedy circuit.

She has proven her writing talents with four Edinburgh Fringe shows and can display the depth of material that marks out the best comic talent.

Griff (24 & 25 April and 1 & 2 May) is a native of California who now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Blessed (and cursed) with a raspy baritone voice, this insomniac headliner's quick wit and sometimes-dark improv is a sure-fire hit. He claims to be the only African American who knows what the sport of cricket is ...and probably one of few Americans who knows that Johannesburg downtown area makes New York City look small!

Comedian by night and morning show radio personality by day, Griff has opened for major acts like The Kings and Queens of Comedy and DL Hughley. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his commentary on the “Street Skillz” radio show and hosted Fox Sports' “Thunderbox”
