The Falling Mirror story retold, live

The Truth Sessions, to start on Saturday, 3 August, 2013, at 8pm at Truth HQ, 36 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town, are a rock 'n roll road trip that tell the story of recently reunited 1980s' rockers Falling Mirror, who many might remember from the radio hit Johnny Calls The Chemist. Each session offers a candid two-part insight into Falling Mirror's 30-year musical journey.
The Falling Mirror story retold, live

Part One (8pm - 9pm)

The first hour is an explosive look at the band's work from 1979 to 2012, before launching into a freer and more explorative second hour set featuring new album material, maybe a few covers and the odd jamming collaboration to test fresh ideas in front of a live audience.

The entire session will be captured on film in the intimate live setting of Truth HQ in Cape Town and, ultimately, form part of a major forthcoming international documentary on Falling Mirror.

The unique rock story of Falling Mirror has not only prompted the commissioning of a music documentary, but created renewed interest in the band and their music among a wide audience. This has sparked the development of a new album set for international release in 2014.

Part Two (9.30pm - 10.30pm)

The second hour set of The Truth Sessions will delve into a new part of their journey, experimenting with new material in a raw, live format that will give the audience a rare behind-the-scenes view into the making of an album.

Founding band members Allan Faull (lead guitar) and vocalist Nielen Marais, together with original drummer Patrick Humphries, George den Das on keyboards and Harvey Cohen on bass guitar, were known as a non-performing, inordinately introspective group that has gained a cult following since the '80s. Despite their rare live performances, the band has stayed rooted in the nation's musical psyche ever since Johnny Calls The Chemist was released.

Tickets are available via www.quicket.co.za and at the door (limited). All tickets are priced at R50.
