Green guide to Rocking the Daisies
In keeping with its efforts to "Play Hard, Tread Lightly", once again sustainable transport options have been provided - from cycling and walking to catching the train, car-pooling or bussing it.
Why not start this year's Daisies by bringing out the big guns and show us you can walk the distance? Before you read on please note that, although the walk is free, only 200 applicants will get to walk the talk.
Walking the Daisies is an annual two-day hike to Rocking the Daisies that starts on Thursday, 3 October and ends on Friday, 4 October. Join 200 like-minded walkers for a 50km facilitated hike with educational and environmental activities. The walk is fully catered for and your luggage will be transported to the festival (backpack-free hiking)! Tented accommodation is provided along the way in addition to sponsored gear and lots of extra benefits.
Potential walkers will be selected on the strength of their applications. The selection criteria for walking applications are fairly rigorous and criteria will be based on various aspects from experience, to fitness, and skill sets that will add benefit to the walk and fellow walkers.
Keep an eye on Rocking the Daisies social media channels for more information.
Applications will be open from 1 to 22 August via rockingthedaisies.com.

Rhino conservation
Rocking the Daisies Music and Lifestyle Festival has pledged R10 000 to Project Rhino KZN (African Conservation Trust), and invited Steve Newman (aka The Naked Rhino Skydiver) to Cycling the Daisies brought to you by Pick n Pay, on 3 October in aid of rhino poaching awareness. Now it's your turn!
The person who raises and donates the most money to PRKZN via Steve Newman's Give 'n Gain profile, will be rewarded with a lifetime ticket to Daisies! The competition closes on Monday, 30 September and Rocking the Daisies encourages everyone to start getting creative with their fundraising efforts. For full info on how to enter, go to Steve Newman's profile on Give 'n Gain: www.givengain.com/activist/85270/projects/3718
Please note all Cycling the Daisies brought to you by Pick n Pay tickets are SOLD OUT, but stand a chance to win a ticket via Pick n Pay's Facebook page in September, when there will be 10 tickets up for grabs.
