Top comics booked for spring line-up at Emperors Palace
Emperors Palace will be celebrate the arrival of spring with a line-up of some of South Africa's top comedy acts between 30 August and 30 September, 2012.
Joey Rasdien will bring his off-the-wall one-man show, aptly entitled Mixed DNA, to the Theatre of Marcellus for three nights only on 30, 31 August and 2 September. Rasdien will share his zany yet thought-provoking humour through poking fun at the social, political, moral and ethical questions faced in the country. Ticket prices start from R80 per person.
For one night only, Kings and Queens of Comedy will bring together some of the nation's greatest comedians on one stage in the Centre Court on 21 September. The comedy show will feature Nik Rabinowitz, Muthu Murugan, Trevor Gumbi, Ann Herch, Tracy Klass, Tumi Morake and Mel Jones in a comedy battle to be crowned the King and Queen of comedy. Funny man Mel Miller will make a guest appearance and the MC will be Joey Rasdien. Tickets start from R160 per person and special dinner and show packages are available.
Two nutty friends and their adventures
Those Indian Guys will be at it again with another hilarious comedy show in 64@ The Palace from 7 to 9 and 14 to 16 September. The hugely talented Kaseran Pillay and Sans Moonsamy will give an action-packed performance that will tell the story of two nutty friends and their adventures in a series of skits and impersonations. Tickets start from R120 per person.
Emperors Palace will have a great afternoon of laughs lined-up with Barry Hilton on 23 September in the gardens of the D'oreale Grande hotel. Celebrate Heritage Day at R60 per person, with free entry for children under 12.
Emperors Palace will host one of the best Indian stand-up comedians in South Africa, Muthu Murugan in The Indian King of Comedy on 22 and 23 September in the Theatre of Marcellus. The evening will promise loads of entertainment as Murugan gives his sardonic and social commentary on a spectrum of topics. The comedy showcase will also feature rising star Carvin H Goldstone. Tickets start from R100 per person.
Comedy meets Jazz
Comedy and jazz will never be the same again with Comedy meets Jazz featuring South Africa's Afro-fusion band, Stimela, multi-award-winning singer and songwriter Thandiswa Mazwai, and funny men Mongezi (Tol Ass Mo) and Loyiso Gola. The show will be performed in the Theatre of Marcellus on 29 and 30 September. Tickets start from R250 per person, and dinner and show packages are available from R510 per person.
After a fun evening or afternoon, guests can extend their visit at Emperors Palace with comfortable accommodation at any of the four hotels.
