Bouwer Bosch releases (K)anker music video

Bouwer Bosch has released the music video for (K)anker, which features Jaco van der Merwe from Bittereinder and which he himself directed. The song is about his father's fight with cancer, and Van der Merwe's friend who died in an accident in Japan.

Bosch chose to shoot his new video for the song (K)anker, as it's the most personal and emotional song on his album "Almal Maak Voute" (released December 2011) with serious lyrics to which most people can relate.

"I am a big fan of 'less is more' concepts and, with this video, we wanted to do an artsy performance without making it too emotional and complicated. The video portrays Jaco and I putting up a lot of photos on a wall, followed by us performing the song in different shots in front of the wall. We want the listener to hear and breathe the lyrics, and not focus too much on what is going on in the background or what we are trying to say through the photos."

Death is part of life

Bosch feels that most people can identify with the song because we all have lost a loved one or we all know a family member who battles with cancer. Everyone has someone who is hurt in some way and we feel helpless in our quest to help them. The song is not about death, it's about our understanding that death is part of life and we won't always understand grace. "Whenever I get the chance to show my supporters a little bit of my soul, I take it. This song bares a lot of my soul," said Bosch. "This song makes me feel naked because it contains my battle with God, grace, my dad, and me trying to figure it all out on my own."

Bosch is also part of VredeFest 2012 and wanted the video to create some awareness for the festival. VredeFest this year takes place on 13 and 14 April at NWU Campus (Pukke) and Arcade Empire and this time it will be louder and more message driven than ever.

Bands confirmed for the line-up thus far include: Gazelle, Taxi Violence, Zebra & Giraffe, Wrestlerish, Moses Metro Man and aKing. Bosch will be the MC for both events.

All funds raised are to benefit The Vrede Foundation and its strategic goals. For more info, go to www.vredefoundation.co.za
