The Moody Blues, 10cc and Procol Harum to play Cape Town and Joburg
Legendary English rock band The Moody Blues, together with special guests 10cc and Procol Harum, are to play two SA gigs next year on 30 May at the Grand Arena, Grand West, Cape Town and 1 June, 2012, at the Coca-Cola Dome, Joburg.
Since they first hit the rock scene with the release of their monumental 1967 album "days Of Future Passed", The Moody Blues have continued to produce music that bridges the gap between classical and pop-rock genres. Featuring the altruistic inflections of guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge, The Moody Blues' sound has held its ground with exquisite harmonies in a genre of music that is ever changing.
The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded 14 Platinum and Gold discs. Their roster of hits includes: Nights In White Satin, Ride My See-Saw, The Story In Your Eyes, Isn't Life Strange, Question, I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band), Your Wildest Dreams, and I Know You're Out There Somewhere.
Celebrating their 45-year career, this British Invasion of the 1960s, that is still recording and touring, has made a special holiday collection. During the 1990s, The Moody Blues recorded their only Christmas-themed album, "December". The "December" CD is now available online at moodyblues.qcommerce.com
Tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band
Deriving their name from the metric total of semen ejaculated by the average male, the tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band 10cc will be the special guests on this tour. Noted for their studio polish, advanced musicianship, impeccable vocal performances, and clever lyrics, 10cc first became successful for their classic singles that often parodied classic rock styles or satirised modern life. 10cc have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide on the strength of hits such as Dreadlock Holiday, I'm Not In Love, Things We Do For Love and Donna. 10cc feature the original members Graham Gouldman on bass, guitars, vocals and Rick Fenn on lead guitar, vocals, and bass.
Procol Harum are a British rock band, formed in 1967, which contributed to the development of progressive rock, and by extension, symphonic rock. Their best-known recording is their 1967 single A Whiter Shade Of Pale along with other hit songs Homberg, A Salty Dog and Conquistador.
