Selaelo Selota - two concerts in Roodepoort
Selaelo Selota, the singer, guitarist, producer and songwriter, will be playing two concerts at the Roodepoort City Theatre, 100 Christiaan de Wet Drive, Florida Park, Roodepoort, on Saturday, 10 and Sunday, 11 December, 2011, supported by a seven-piece band.
Selota, has, since the release of his first album, "Painted Faces", put his sePedi stamp firmly on the South African musical landscape. Selota is, however, not a tribalist: he embraces various musical traditions - such as isiNdebele and xiTsonga - on his latest offering Lapeng Laka; he is all about presenting a unique, broader SA sound. Lapeng Laka (My Home) revolves around the homecoming, which means much more than a nostalgic return to the roots - it's about recognising the need to make peace in the family, the extended family and the community, a meaningful message in today's rapidly changing South Africa.
