New editor for Automobil, NAG changes distributors
Motoring on
"We're delighted to have an editor of this calibre on board," comments group editor of RamsayMedia Custom Publishing, Robyn Daly. "He brings with him intimate industry connections and a passion for the business end of cars. We expect, under his leadership, that the magazine will continue to be the authoritative voice of the retail motor industry and the number one go-to point for small- and medium-sized business owners and managers looking for practical business-management content."
During a six-year stint at Bicycling South Africa, Brink was features, technical and online editor as well marketing manager, before assuming overall editorial responsibility of the magazine. He has also served as media manager for the Cape Epic. For the past three years he has been at the helm of Classic Cars, pursuing is interest in motoring.
Brink is looking forward to the challenge of his new position and "has a few tricks" for delivering an enhanced editorial offering to its readers.
"The magazine is the perfect vehicle to connect the association and its members and members with each other, through targeted, relevant editorial that will help them build better, more profitable businesses. Our plan is to build on the newly developed online and social media offerings to share the wealth and knowledge of the RMI membership and the association's experts, more effectively," he said.
Birthday expansion
As one of South Africa's leading gaming, computer and technology magazine, NAG celebrates its 14th birthday this April with a number of exciting developments.
In the first new move, it has partnered with On the Dot Distribution (OTD), which took over the magazine's nation-wide distribution from the February 2012 issue.
Michael James, NAG publisher, says, "Our new partnership came about following the closure of the distribution side of the business by our previous distributor, Junkmail Distribution. Having been with it for 13 years, the move was significant and the change in distribution caused an anticipated negative effect on availability and sales for the February issue. However, March's distribution was far smoother and we are confident that this will be a good move for the magazine and its readers."
It has also launched its February issue on Zinio, the leading digital magazine reseller. "We have already had a great response to our launch on Zinio, so we are excited about the possibilities of this new partnership going forward. With this service, our digital readers receive exactly the same material they would in print. Additional exclusive features like video, audio and live links are planned for the future."
NAG Online
It has also changed service providers for its website, NAG Online. The change was made due to a high growth in traffic that meant the previous service providers were no longer able to facilitate the service. James says that the website is now up and running at high speeds, with content updated daily.
"These significant developments and new partnerships are all exciting steps forward for the magazine and we look forward to new successes as the year progresses," he concludes.
