    Denel wins contract to maintain target drones

    Denel Dynamics has won a contract worth R1,8 million to maintain the Skua high speed target drones according to Defence Web. It says expenditure on the drones since 1992 when Denel was awarded the contract has risen to R13,8 million.

    Denel wins contract to maintain target drones

    The Skua is designed to simulate high-speed attacks during land, sea and air combat exercises and the complete system comprises between four and eight target drones, a launcher, a mobile ground control station and ground support equipment.

    Defence Web says it has a top speed of 0,86 Mach at an altitude of 10 000m and can carry a payload of up to 70kg.
