Six athletes included in 100 most influential Africans list

AfriqueJet Actualité website reports that six African athletes are included in the list of 100 most influential Africans, published by the New African magazine in its December edition, they are: current 800 metres Olympic and world record holder, 23-year-old David Rudisha of Kenya, former English club Chelsea player, 34-year-old footballer Didier Drogba of Cote d'Ivoire, and the 25-year-old sprinter Oscar Pistorius, holder of three world records and the first amputee to win an able-bodied track medal.

Other athletes on the honour list are retired 39-year-old Kenyan runner and world record holder Tegla Laroupe, 27-year-old Ethiopian triple gold medallist, the first woman to defend her Olympic title over 10,000 metres and the most successful Ethiopian female athlete, Tirunesh Dibaba, and Ugandan Stephen Kiprotich, the 23-year-old Olympic marathon champion with a winning time of 2 hours, eight minutes and one second.

The two sports administrators on the list are Lamine Diack, a Senegalese who is the President of the International Association of Athletic Federations, IAAF, and Issa Hayatou, President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, AfriqueJet Actualité says.
