Former African footballer of the year and Forbes Africa columnist, Kalusha Bwlaya, has named his list of Africa's 20 greatest players. Prolific Egyptian striker Mahmoud El Khatib came second and Cameroon's Samuel Etoó a close third.
Bwalya says he chose players based on their dedication to their country and consistency. "You have to consider the difficulty of comparing players across different eras," says Bwalya. Among the names on the list are: Didier Drogba; Eusebio; Bruce Grobbelaar and Kanu. The names that aren't on the list are likely to provoke the most debate. The full list will be published in Forbes Africa on 1 October 2013.
