Finalists include Tshwane University of Technology's Laetitia Van Wyk, Shani Van Eck, Sammy Hill and Remoakantse Matseke as well as The Cape Peninsula University of Technology's Chrisanne Louw, Latifa Sonday and Nandi Breytenbach. The professional designers that made the cut include Lee Malan and Visha Naidoo.
The first place winner will walk away with R20 000 and each category winner will win R7500.
"We are very impressed with the response the competition has received and are looking forward to naming the winner at a glamorous gala dinner that will be held after Jewellex 2011 on July 23rd in Sandton," says Candice Stuart, category manager for KWV SA's imported division.
Each design entered into the competition had to incorporate the symbolic Swarovski crystal featured on each bottle of Pravda Vodka. "The competition had two categories, one for students and apprentices or learners and another for practicing designers and manufacturers whose goods are offered for sale. All designs chosen followed the brief and embody the Pravda brand," says Lourens Mare, CEO of the JCSA.
