Laborie Shiraz captures award

At the Santam Paarl Shiraz Chenin Challenge 2010, held last week, the judges said that a distinct improvement in quality and emerging 'personality' were the defining characteristics during this year's competition.

Of the 28 Shiraz wines entered, there were minimal faults, with award winners in particular showing 'pure fruit flavours' with concentration' and true varietal flavours.

The Laborie Jean Taillefert 2006 was voted the best Shiraz for its cinnamon and pepper spices, complemented by oak aromas of mocha, coffee and toffee that support its fruit flavours of cassis and black cherry. It retails for approximately R151 per bottle and is available at selected wine outlets nationwide and from the farm.
