Entries open for Top 10 Pinotage

The 2010 Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition is now open for entries and will close on 15 July 2010. Late entries will be accepted up to 30 July at a penalty of R375 per wine. The judging will take place from 11-13 August at Longridge Winery and the results will be released at the annual Absa Top 10 Pinotage gala event on 9 September.
Entries open for Top 10 Pinotage

The competition attracted 139 entries in 2009 including three from New Zealand. This is in line with its objectives to create international recognition for Pinotage as a premium red wine variety and to ensure that South Africa remains the leader in all aspects of its cultivation and vinification.

Judges, entries

The seven judges for the 2010 competition include international wine judge and auctioneer David Molyneux-Berry. The other judges are Duimpie Bayly (convener), Gert Boerssen, Dave Hughes, Jonathan Steyn, Hannes Storm and Susan Erasmus.

Entries cost R375 per wine for members of the Pinotage Association and non-members pay an additional R375 per entry, however this amount can be used to obtain membership of the association. Competition information and entry forms are available on www.pinotage.co.za.
