The Riet Family Guidance Centre was established in 1990 by Irvin Korje. It is a non-governmental welfare education organisation, dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights of women.
Women and children who have suffered as a result of domestic violence are referred to the centre by the police, the courts and churches. The centre offers 24-hour counselling by a qualified social worker and provides short-term accommodation of up to three months. The centre also offers a day care centre for the children.
