Unrest affects Kenya Airways
Passenger numbers are operating below average compared to last year and the most affected routes are the European routes of London, Amsterdam, Paris, the Johannesburg route as well as Mombasa, which is Kenya's prime tourist area.
Some immediate measures have been taken to reduce capacity specifically on these routes. Cargo business has also been impacted, though not as much as the passenger business.
Naikuni confirmed that JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) is safe and has maintained its normal operations. He says concerns have been raised regarding the safety of passengers when traveling through this hub but he assures travellers that at no time has there been a threat to its operations; Kenya Airways and other foreign carries such as BA and Virgin, continue to operate normally.
