HIV/AIDS: Spanish researchers report encouraging results in search for therapeutic HIV vaccine
MADRID, SPAIN: According to a report in BDLive, Spanish researchers claim that they have developed a therapeutic vaccine that can temporarily brake the growth of HIV in infected patients.
The vaccine, according to the BD Live report, "is based on immune cells exposed to HIV that had been inactivated with heat". The researchers are reported as saying that the new vaccine was tested on a group of 36 people carrying the virus and "the results were the best yet recorded for such a treatment".
