The hotel's columned main entrance on Orange Street has re-opened after access had been diverted to the property's Kloof Street entrance during the renovations period.
Balconies have been added to the 107-year old 5-storey façade; and the 4th floor rooms of the main wing (including five new Mountain Facing Junior Suites) have received a 'soft refurbishment' with neutral wall colours and bright contemporary fabrics.
Bathrooms have undergone a complete overhaul including the installation of luxury oversized Kaldewei baths and laying of Italian tiles.
All remaining luxury rooms and suites located on the other floors of the main hotel have also received bathroom and room changes.
The Mount Nelson Hotel was named 'Africa's Leading Hotel' and 'South Africa's Best Hotel' for 2006 at the 13th annual World Travel Awards; as well as receiving the 'Diners Club Wine List of the Year ' Award of Excellence 2006 accolade for the Cape Colony Restaurant.
