    Alcatel-Lucent promotes Moroccan education through ICTs

    The Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, Executives training and Scientific Research of Morocco (MENESFCRS) and Alcatel-Lucent signed a co-operation agreement for a new educational program entitled, “Dynamic Knowledge for Education”.

    Promoting innovation, and the use of new information and communications technologies in education, this agreement aims to make Alcatel-Lucent collaboration platforms available to a large number of Moroccan universities and schools free of charge.

    According to the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent Morocco will make available an integrated collaboration solution platform, the Alcatel-Lucent Extended Communication Server. This platform offers an extended portfolio of communication and collaboration services, including virtual office with email access, contacts management, file sharing, intranet and internet connection as well as IP telephony due to the interconnection with the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office.

    Through the “Dynamic Knowledge for Education” program, the MENESFCRS wants to support collaborative and innovative projects around web technologies and Web 2.0. The systems made available under this initiative which includes an “open source” environment, provides new possibilities in sofware production and the spread of ICT, a growth sector. Beneficiaries of this program will also be able to enrich and share their knowledge with the educational community.

    By joining forces in this national project, Alcatel-Lucent Morocco and the Ministry of National Education are encouraging research and economic development by extending access to information and reducing the digital divide.

    “We are very pleased to have Alcatel-Lucent's support for modernising and promoting education, training, and scientific research in the Kingdom of Morocco. Our objective is to make communications services accessible to all, and to improve the quality of learning and teaching by providing suitable technological support to students and teachers” said Latifa Tricha, secretary general of Higher Education Training and Scientific Research.

    “We are proud to share our experience and technological knowledge with the education sector of the Kingdom of Morocco. Alcatel-Lucent teams and the Ministry of National Education will work together to make this support program an overall success, which also encourages economic development,” stated Christian Olivier, country senior officer of Alcatel-Lucent's activities in Morocco.
