ATHENS, GREECE: Greece's main telecommunications provider OTE has sold a majority stake in the country's sole satellite operator Hellas Sat to Saudi Arabia-based Arabsat.

New iPad tops three million

Demand for smartphones higher than ever before in Europe

NUREMBURG, GERMANY: In 2011, demand for mobile phones once again increased in Europe, largely as a result of the rising popularity of smartphones. According to GfK, 3.2% more mobile phones were sold in 2011, in particular the sales of smartphones increased by 67%.

Mixed results within technical consumer goods markets in Western Europe

NUREMBERG, GERMANY: The overall market for technical consumer goods in Western Europe recorded a sales volume of €44.4bn in the third quarter of 2011. This is a decrease of 4.1% compared to last year's figures. The individual countries are developing very differently. These are the findings of GfK TEMAX Western Europe.
