While Daisy Masiangoako explains 'the Woolworths difference' when it comes to branding for the leading retailer's private label brands. Big news for Spar and marking its second investment in Europe, is its venture into Switzerland where it will be rolling out a "relatively large international expansion". The local food retailer concluded an agreement to acquire 60% of the ordinary shares of Spar Holding, also known as Spar Switzerland, for Sf44.5m on 1 April. The agreement also gives Spar the right to buy the remaining 40% of the company after five years for Sf6.3m, as reported by Business Day.
