Step downs and step ups

Tuesday alone saw two major international fashion icons step down, namely Donna Karan of DK International and Nike's chairman Phil Knight.

Out of 140 steakhouses competing for the Wolftrap Steakhouse Championships, it was Little Havana in Umhlanga Rocks, KwaZulu-Natal that claimed the top honour while two-times winner The Local Grill in Parktown North, Johannesburg was judged the 2015 Runner-Up. And Irish chef Mark Moriarty, representing the UK and Ireland, has been named the San Pellegrino Young Chef 2015.

Other top stories: Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky is to roll out across the US over the next couple of months; Grocery stores in the Eastern Cape will no longer be allowed to sell wine and food on the same premises; and Nivea calls consumers to make a "care promise", giving donors a R10 off voucher in return.

Advanced analytics: the game changer SA retailers have yet to plug into

Gareth Pearson

As a strategic direct marketing tool, advanced analytics has the power to revolutionise the South African retail sector.
