The Creative Circle Ad of the Month results for September 2012 have been announced, and chairperson for the advertising judging panel that month, Jonathan Beggs, has commented that, "it was a predictably quiet month after the Loeries rush, with not a huge amount of entries overall but there was some really enjoyable work."

Provantage, in a consortium with TransPeninsula Investments and Kidrogen (Pty) Ltd, and trading as Integrated Rapid Transport Media, was recently awarded the exclusive advertising rights to the Integrated Rapid Transport (IRT) Bus System in Cape Town. Also known as MyCiti, the system is set to vastly improve public transport.

A new outdoor campaign has brought to life the power of Doom in the form of a billboard made entirely of shoes. The idea is that people have different ways of killing bugs; some use rolled up newspaper, some scream and call their better halves, and some use shoes.

A billboard campaign, carrying OppiKoppi's theme message, 'Sweet Thing', reportedly became a hit with potential festivalgoers. Without any prompting, fans posted images of themselves interacting with the boards. This led to the festival organisers running a competition on social media networks as to who posted the most creative photo of themselves standing with a billboard.

On 6 September, leading out of home media owner Provantage walked away with three prestigious MOST Awards - Provantage took first position in the Out of Home Category, received the MOST Award for Overall Best Media Owner of the Year and Managing Director Jacques du Preez collected the MOST Rising Star Award, for the third year in a row.

Alliance Media Zambia, Zambia's largest outdoor advertising company has installed Lusaka's largest free-standing billboard structure in the capital city's upmarket area of Kabulonga. The billboard was taken up by Samsung who is using the medium to promote the newly released Galaxy S III and the Smart TV.

The fourth MOST Awards revealed interesting results, and while the top media players fared well, emerging companies pipped those established to the post. Over 700 media owners, media planners, strategists and clients gathered at the University of Johannesburg's Arts Auditorium to applaud Provantage, The MediaShop (JHB) and PHD Media for walking away with the top accolades.

Big brands in South Africa are obliged to place a large portion of their outdoor spend in Johannesburg. Although public statistics are scant, there is no doubt that the city is South Africa's most important in terms of population, GDP, consumer spend, international arrivals and almost every other economic indicator that would tickle a media/advertising professional's fancy.
