Aurora Capital SA’s rapid expansion over the past year has added four business units, five offices and a growing network of specialist expertise. But as the financial services group broadens its reach, the next challenge is turning that growth into tangible value for advisers and clients.

Since October 2025, the group has strengthened its teams through new appointments and internal transfers, expanding support across its businesses. Chief executive officer Rico Ernst says the focus is on building the capabilities advisers need while ensuring clients benefit from a more connected, accessible network.
“The aim has been to strengthen the areas where we can give advisers and clients more support,” says Ernst. “That means bringing the right people into the business, building specialist capability and making the Aurora group more accessible as it grows.”
New capability across the group
Some of the expansion has taken place within the Aurora group’s central support structure. The Aurora Capital Hub has added specialists in medical aid and short-term insurance, together with two assistants, as the group develops support in these areas.
Aurora Capital Wealth has added two people, including a financial adviser, while Aurora Capital Risk & Solutions has added another staff member. An employee has also moved into Aurora Capital Corporate Benefits.
Growth has extended into the group’s adviser businesses. Financial advisers have joined the Aurora Capital Fusion juristic representatives in Durbanville and Tokai, while Triple Legacy Wealth Advisory, Matla Capital and DoughGetters have each added an adviser.
Four business units have been added over the period, with Aurora Capital Fusion counted as one business unit. Ernst says the wider structure gives the Aurora group an opportunity to bring more expertise into the group without losing sight of the adviser and client relationships on which the business has grown.
“As the range of services expands, we still want people to know who they are dealing with and where to go when they need help. The value of adding specialist capability is that the adviser can draw on more support when a client needs it.”
A wider footprint
The Aurora group has also expanded geographically. Five offices have been added outside the group’s head office, taking the total footprint to six. The additional presence includes Durban, Gqeberha, and Aurora Capital Fusion offices in the Western Cape.
The expansion brings the group closer to advisers and clients across the country, while the additional financial advisers broaden the Aurora group’s distribution network. For Ernst, physical expansion and additional business units are useful indicators of growth, but they are only part of the picture.
“The number of offices or people tells you how the business has changed in size. What is more important for us is whether that growth gives advisers better support and gives clients access to the expertise they need.”
Bringing a larger group together
The past year has changed the shape of the Aurora group as much as its size. The group now has more specialist functions, a wider adviser network and businesses operating across a broader geographic footprint.
That also changes the task ahead. As additional capability comes into the group, the focus increasingly moves towards making sure advisers can use it effectively and clients experience the benefit of having different areas of expertise available within the wider Aurora network.
Ernst says this will remain an important part of the group’s development.
“We have built considerably more capability into the Aurora group over the past year. The focus now is making sure those businesses and teams work well together and that the growth translates into something useful for the people we serve.”
The Aurora group’s expansion over the past year can be counted in new people, business units and offices. The longer-term test will be how effectively that wider network supports the advisers and clients using it.
