Go four[teen]th and prosper!

Well, here it is folks. The final Bizcommunity retail newsletter for the year. 2013 has been another tough year of trading (as reiterated by October's retail sales), but it looks as though consumers are feeling like their usual generous selves during the festive season.

With more consumers buying presents online, take note of these safety tips when shopping from the comfort of your couch. Then, once all the festivities are over and the miles of gift wrapping and ribbons have been cleared from the lounge floor, and you're wondering what to do with your old smartphone/tablet/iPod, check out this new trade-in service DionWired has launched.

Looking back on this past week, many local retailers deciding to close their doors on Sunday in order to let their staff watch Madiba's funeral proceedings. Pick n Pay, however, opted to do something a little different.

And with that, we here at Biz would like to thank all of you - our Press Office holders, advertising clients, readers, contributors and subscribers - for your continued support over the past year. We wish you all the very best for the festive season! Our short-straw holders will be manning the site until the rest of us get back in the new year in time for our first editions on 7 January.

Here's looking forward to a prosperous 2014!
