The forecourt of franchising

Franchising in SA got a major boost last week as Taste Holdings, Nedbank and Brimstone Investment entered into a funding agreement that will offer financial assistance to 50 potential Fish & Chips Co. franchisees.

Burger King is fast making inroads in SA with the latest deal seeing the American fast-food giant partnering with Sasol to open restaurants in the stations' forecourts. This interesting development will see them competing in an industry long dominated by Wimpy and Shell, with Wimpy's parent, Famous Brands, having entered sibling Steers into the playing field with Total a few years ago.

Let the games begin!
