SADC calls for reform of FAO
"There are effectively good public statements, (and) expression of solidarity for the eradication of hunger and misery, but this requires implementation," the official told journalists on the sidelines of the World Summit on Food Security, organised by the FAO in South Africa, 16 - 18 November 2009.
The Angolan official said that because of this, the SADC had come to this summit to propose the creation of an institutional reform to ensure that available resources from donors reached disadvantaged families.
He regretted that the resources made available did not always reach the recipients and he asserted that "many intermediaries, such as consultants, implementing agencies, among others, end up benefiting from all the goods".
The three-day summit was attended by about 60 heads of state and government.
