The Global Awards World's Best Healthcare & Wellness Advertising 2014 competition is open for entries.

Each year, Global Awards executives Michael Demetriades and Caroline Poon strategically evaluate and update the competition to mirror the evolving Healthcare & Wellness industry. This year, the Global Awards has consolidated its categories to the Healthcare Professional and Consumer Patient for efficiency to reflect the current work being produced in the industry. In addition, the competition enhanced and streamlined the submission process, improving the user experience across the board.

"Based on conversations with Global Awards Chairperson, Robin Shapiro, EVP, Chief Creative Officer, CAHG, the Global Awards consolidated its categories," said Michael Demetriades, Vice President/Executive Director, Global Awards. "We relied on Robin's expertise and that of other prominent healthcare industry professionals and combined categories for relevancy, consistency, and ease of navigation."

The evolving healthcare and wellness trends inspired the Global Awards to create additional wellness categories. New categories include: Nutritional Management (OTC); Nutritional Science; and Complimentary & Alternative Medicine (CAM). These newly unveiled categories will showcase advertising and marketing campaigns promoting alternative therapies and diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products including ones not presently considered part of conventional medicine, such as Acupuncture,
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Massage Therapy, Hypnosis, and Yoga.

    The trend

"The trend towards wellness, healthy lifestyle, and preventive care advertising and marketing are at the forefront and are supported by the number of wellness entries achieving recognition in last year's competition...we recognise that these categories are poised for continued growth in 2014," said Caroline Poon Associate Executive Director, Global Awards.

The Global Awards Executive Jury and Grand Jury comprise international industry experts, representing the top creative minds in the field of healthcare & wellness advertising. The Global Awards recruits jury members representing more than 20 countries in six continents. This jury selection process ensures that each entry is judged by renowned talent with global knowledge and perspective from the industry.

Each year, in addition to online judging sessions, the Global Awards organises live judging sessions around the globe to review digital based works as well as collateral materials that support a campaign and which cannot be judged online. These live sessions hosted at prominent international healthcare communication agencies, allow jurors to examine in detail multi-paged works including: sales kits, direct mail, brochures, point of purchase displays, and annual reports.

Award winners will be announced in November and the Global Awards will host award ceremonies globally in New York, USA and Sydney, Australia to celebrate 2014's award-winning entries.

The 2013 Global Awards juries recognised winners from 21 different countries with 2 Grand Global Awards, 36 Global Awards and 152 Finalists. Highlights include Langland UK earning the 2013 Grand Global Award for Communication to the Healthcare Professional for "I did this with Idis" for client Idis. In addition, Ogilvy Healthworld Brazil earned the Grand Global Award for Communication to Consumer for their campaign "Immortal Fans" for Sport Club Recife. For the second year in a row, McCann Health was in the spotlight earning the title of Healthcare Agency Network of the Year and Langland, UK took centre stage, earning the Global Healthcare Agency of the Year Award for the third consecutive year.
