Building South Africa up to reflect Mandela's legacy

Statement by Andre Venter, spokesperson of the trade union UASA: In the words of Nelson Mandela, the time is always ripe to do right.

Tomorrow we celebrate Mandela Day in the midst of much negativity and pessimism about the state of our country. Let us remember these powerful words of our first democratically elected president to take us forward.

As South Africa's greatest statesman, Mandela left us with a legacy that cannot be ignored or forgotten for the sake of personal gain. The time has come for all South Africans to put South Africa first and together build the country into what it can and should be.

UASA wishes all South Africans a fruitful Mandela Day.
