Petrol price drops by 27 cents

South African motorists will be able to breathe a sigh of relief this week - as all grades of petrol will drop by 27 cents a litre, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday, 28 May 2010.

The price of Diesel 0.05 percent Sulphur wholesale will fall by 15 cents a litre, while Diesel 0.005 will also drop by 15 cents a litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin is to decrease by 13 cents and the Single Maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will fall by 12 cents a litre.

A litre of petrol 95 ULP in Gauteng will now cost R8.45.
