Patents partners at Adams & Adams receive accolades

Who's Who Legal has been recognising the world's leading legal practitioners across 100 jurisdictions in multiple practice areas for the past 28 years. The findings are based on independent research conducted by the publication. This involves researchers surveying both in-house counsel and private practice areas. Only those who receive sufficient votes are considered pre-eminent in the field and then are selected.

Department's responsibilities

The Patent Department at Adams & Adams consists of sections responsible for local patent and design filings, patent and design filings from abroad, patent and design filings in Africa, patent, design, other intellectual property (IP) and IP contractual litigation, patent and design recordals and renewals and IP commercialisation. The department works across areas such as biotechnology, the life sciences, mechanical and chemical engineering, civil engineering and electronics.

Last year the firm garnered 49 local and global awards across various categories. This is the largest number of awards received by a law firm to date. This achievement looks set to continue this year, with a total of 24 awards received so far. This includes the Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) Award for Best IP Law Firm of the Year in South Africa for 2014.
