Open call for architecture conference programme 2020-2022 in Lisbon
Architects, critics, and curators are invited, as individuals or pairs, to submit a proposal for a cycle of twelve architecture conferences. The organising entities are challenging applicants to build a programme focusing on subjects that are highly relevant to society, addressing major current issues in contemporary architecture.
The Lisbon Architecture Triennale aims to present several perspectives within today's architectural thinking, gathering the most relevant European players in Lisbon, and bringing audiences closer to the ongoing debates. The challenge is also to think of a different approach to the conference format within the field of architecture, engaging different generations and authors with a body of work developed in diverse geographic contexts.
Proposals will be accepted until 1 July 2019.
The jury for selection will include representatives of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale (José Mateus and Manuel Henriques), the CCB (Madalena Reis and André Tavares), and an external consultant, Irina Davidovici. The winning proposal will be announced in September 2019 and the first conference will take place in March 2020.
This conference series will merge the two previous conference programs that have been carried out in collaboration between the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and Garagem Sul – CCB: Critical Distance cycle (since 2011) and Garage Conferences (since 2017). Among the previous invited speakers are the Pritzker winner Kazuyo Sejima; the studios OMA and MVRDV; the architect and researcher Anna Puigjaner; the landscape architect Catherine Mosbach; the art director of the series Game of Thrones, Paul Ghirardani; and the winner of the Aga Khan Award, Marina Tabassum.
