International DJ Karina Chaczbabian in Joburg and Cape Town
In celebration of Women's Day, Younique Concepts and After Hours Entertainment in association with Glamour presents That's What She Said 2013 with Karina Chaczbabian from The Zoo Project in Ibiza. From sunset to midnight on 8 August, 2013, the Grand Café & Beach in Cape Town is hosting the best in deep house music entertainment. Chefs will be preparing food on the beach and drinks will be available at the bar. For those in Joburg, That's What She Said will be at Sunday Funk on 9 August.
Since 2005 Karina is one of the most integral artists within The Zoo Project, a daytime open-air gathering taking place in Ibiza, known for its music events and parties. This avid collector and player of all things vinyl currently spends her winters in Berlin and summers in Ibiza and still finds time to work on her own productions.
Berlin influence
With Berlin fuelling and influencing her creative side and an appreciation of the fundamentals of raw Chicago and Detroit music, her trademark style fuses elements of the three smoothly together with the minimalistic, forward-thinking deep house that has become her staple sound. Her vinyl selection is seductive, laid-back and hypnotic, while all the time retaining a driving, motivating rhythm.
Local DJs supporting Karina in Cape Town are Vanessa Holliday, Nicole Weitsz and The Grand Café and Beach resident DJ, January One. Local talent to expect in Joburg are Thalia, Keren Onay, Vanessa Holliday and Sunday Funk resident DJ, Nick Essential.
