The new concept kicks off with crossover electronic rock act, Die Heuwels Fantasties. In the first series, concert dates will include performances by established artists like Jozi and The Parlotones, as well as some new kids on the block, like Afro-folk songstress Nancy G and new indie rockers Ice Project.
The broadcast will be from the rooftop of a 20-storey building in Joburg's CBD and SkyRoomLive will be showcasing some of South Africa's most exciting live performers with the Joburg skyline as a backdrop.
All performances will be broadcast live and for free via Facebook and on skyroomlive.com, while the archived on-demand recordings of all the shows will be made available at a cost of R40, pay-per-view. Initially Pay-Per-View content will be available only through the website, but will become available on completion of the first series through a Facebook app, which will support purchases completed using Facebook credits as well as the more traditional credit card transactions.
Although intended as an online only experience, with guests at the live recordings being by invite only, a limited number of tickets will also be made available to the public through Computicket. Tickets are charged at R300.
The SkyRoomLive concept opens up a world of opportunities for any type of event (over and above live music performances) as this technology enables the broadcasting of any event from anywhere.
