MiX Telematics dominates SA fleet management market
The report, titled Fleet Management in South Africa was authored by Rickard Andersson, senior analyst at Sweden-based M2M/IoT analyst house Berg Insight, and includes insights from numerous interviews with market-leading companies, data on commercial fleets, an overview of the fleet management value chain, profiles of 22 aftermarket fleet management solution providers and a summary of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) propositions from commercial vehicle brands.
Overall state of the market
In addition to identifying the top performing fleet management solution providers dominating the South African fleet market, the report also explores the overall state of the market including fleet management infrastructure, market drivers and barriers, as well as future market trends.
"Although the current growth levels are somewhat lower than in other markets, due to the high telematics penetration and a weak local economy, we estimate a 10.8% compound annual growth rate from 0.9 million units in 2015 to 1.5 million by 2020," said Andersson. "Despite the current economic challenges, we believe that the fleet management sector in the region is in a growth period that is set to continue in the years to come."
MiX Telematics services customers across various market segments in South Africa including transport and logistics, oil and gas, agriculture, rental and leasing, cold chain and retail logistics, public transport, government/municipal, security, construction and mining. Globally, MiX Telematics has a total active installed base of more than 540,000 mobile assets as at the end of September 2015, up from 479,000 at same time in 2014. These assets include trucks, buses, vans, cars, motorcycles and trailers.
