Featuring the best freestyle riders from around the world, this show will entertain the audience with death-defying bike stunts, pyrotechnics, live DJs, fire shows and dancers all culminating in an exhilarating freestyle show. The Masters of Dirt FMX course will be built for ultimate thrills and consists of two huge ramps which will launch FMX and quad bikers up to 15 metres above the stadium floor.
Some of the bikers include American quad brothers Derek and Jon Guetter. Famous for his Holy-Grab trick (literally leaping off the bike), Derek has had 26 screws and three plates surgically implanted while Jon is one of the only quad riders worldwide to perform back flip combos on his quad over 23 meters.
The land of Oz boasts its own "Demons from Down Under", Blake 'Bilko' Williams and Rob Adelberg. Bilko is the first non-American FMX rider to win Xtreme games gold. The Australian has made a big name for himself with big success in a relatively short career. Adelberg is one the of the new age FMX up-and-coming riders and really knows how to put on a show-stopper. The answer to the question "What is va va Voom?" is France's Thomas Pages. Thomas and his older brother, Charles, are pushing the freestyle movement in Europe.
Closer to home, Alastair Sayer, from Botswana is nicknamed 'Jakalas' and believes "if it moves, it can fly." With tricks like under flip, seat-grab flip, jackal can, rabid Jakalas and Rock Solid, he certainly is a combo specialist while 'Sick' Nick de Wit is one of South Africa's greatest riders since 2004. Other South Africans who will be in action are Brendan Potter, Dallan Goldman, Tim Boshoff, Colin Stanton and Stewart Couper.
The first of its kind in South Africa the Cape Town Bike Festival combines the world of motorbikes with live concerts including Seether, product displays and the World Championship Bike Building competition hosted by custom bike-building legend, Russell Mitchell. Other lifestyle elements at the festival include a Flavours of the Cape Food & Wine Market, a beer garden, electric tattoo artists, unique shopping and nightly live entertainment with international and local performers.
