Electricity costs to rise by 60% in three years?
Eskom's tariff increases - estimated to be between 50% and 60% over the next three years - will negatively affect South Africa's future according to the Energy Intensive Users' Group. City Press says that the next round of tariff increases will have far-reaching implications for South Africa.
The group says that primary energy costs have increased by 19,8% this year and warns that further price increase will make it hard for industrial consumers to maintain current production levels. It says that further price increases will result in production cuts and job losses.
