Wits releases School of Mining and Engineering Annual Review 2012
The Wits School of Mining and Engineering has released its Annual Review 2012. The review reflects on the school's strategic plan which sets out 10 goals for the five year period 2010-2014, under Prof Fred Cawood's tenure, and the progress being made annually in meeting these objectives.

The stated Goals are:
- Goal 1: Reduce student to staff ratios
- Goal 2: Always have a grant-funded associate lecturer in the School, over and above the MQA Scheme
- Goal 3: Increase the percentage of fully-sponsored students in the School
- Goal 4: Manage student and staff populations towards acceptable demographic ratios
- Goal 5: Review, on a five-yearly basis, undergraduate, postgraduate and certificate programmes for relevance
- Goal 6: Build strong partnerships (internal and external)
- Goal 7: Retain ECSA accreditation of the undergraduate programme
- Goal 8: Improve student throughput in all programmes
- Goal 9:Improve research output through research degrees and publications; and
- Goal 10: Increase the number of NRF-Rated staff.
