Fight breast cancer: Support PinkDrive
Support the PinkDrive roadshow at Madadeni Hospital (Newcastle, KZN) and Valley of 1000 Hills (Kwa Nyuswa Village, KZN) on 20 and 24 May 2010 and help raise awareness about the need for early detection of breast cancer.
The interactive PinkDrive roadshow aiming to educate the public about the importance of early detection of breast cancer is calling for your support. With the final destination for the roadshow being the Comrades Marathon 2010, the two pink trucks that carry educational and mammography facilities will be stopping at Madadeni Hospital in Newcastle on 20 May and Valley of 1000 Hills, Kwa Nyuswa on 24 May.
KZN Health, which has been instrumental in representing the PinkDrive in the KZN region, would like to draw special attention to the breast cancer and wellness day, which the MEC of Health will be attending. This event will take place at Madadeni Hospital on 20th May starting at 8:30am and running until 14:30pm with a host of activities.
Are you a survivor? Help others survive
PinkDrive needs 2010 breast cancer supporters and 85 breast cancer survivors at both of these events. These supporters and breast cancer survivors will receive a pink t-shirt from PinkDrive as a way to show their appreciation and gratitude for supporting their worthy cause. With one in 26 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in South Africa, it is of vital importance to drive the message that early detection saves lives.
Valley of 1000 Hills, Kwa Nyuswa Village, to take place between 8:30am and 14:30pm on 24 May. Guest speakers at this event will include the First Lady, MEC of Health, Dr Mazibuko of Sinomusanthando Community Development, who is collaborating with the PinkDrive at this event.
PinkDrive will be offering free breast health education, free breast examinations performed by qualified nurses, and free mammograms to women over the age of 40 at both locations. A fashion show by models from iindoni Modelling Agency (iindonimodels.com/) will also take place with various public services including blood pressure tests, issuing of birth certificates, grant applications and mammograms of course!
