Centrum gives back to the community
Subsequently Centrum, the country's leading balanced and complete multivitamin, have their eyes on our local guardians and are giving back to the people that dedicate their lives to saving the lives of others. For the Guardians of emergency services, each day brings forth uncertainty and danger and every passing day is an act of bravery deserving reward. The stories of these everyday Guardians often do not get recognition beyond the walls of the station, so the Centrum Guardian project intends to celebrate these courageous stories by recognizing and rewarding the unsung heroes of the Emergency Services.
The Guardian project is a call-to-action for emergency services personnel in the Gauteng region to nominate the individuals and teams that go beyond the call of duty and perform acts of bravery and courage. The participants in this campaign include the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Ekhuruleni Metropolitan Municipality Emergency Management Services, City of Tshwane Fire Brigade Services, ER 24 and Netcare 911. Senior emergency services personnel have been involved in the selection of the 5 regional finalists. Each station has put forward a list of Guardians that have led by example and provided inspiration to fellow emergency personnel.
A panel of judges have gone through a filtering process to select 5 regional finalists. Each of the five regional finalists will be given a chance to tell their story live on radio. Members of the public will then vote for their favourite finalist and determine who the Centrum Guardian winner will be.
Listeners can tune into Jacaranda FM and Kaya FM from Monday 23 June to receive further information and specifics of the voting process. To keep abreast of the latest developments and to find out more about this public initiative, the public can log onto www.centrumguardian.com. The final winner will be announced on Friday 11 July 2008.
